In Île-de-France, the Office regains its former glory. According to the annual Paris Workplace IFOP-SFL barometer, 53% of employees say they like to spend time in the office. At a time when remote work seemed to be taking over, this figure is striking. But why are employees in the Île-de-France region once again choosing their workplace? The answer lies in a factor that is often overlooked: the aesthetics and design of workspaces.
💡 What employees expect from their office:
The study highlights a strong trend: The more beautiful an office is, the more it contributes to the well-being of employees. Here are the main lessons:
1 ️ A place to live above all
Employees no longer see the office as a simple professional space: it is also a place to live. Half of the respondents express their attachment to this space, which they perceive as conducive to interactions, collaboration, but also to their personal development.
2 ️ The importance of design and aesthetics
According to the barometer, offices that follow the codes of high-end hotels attract 43% of employees. These warm and elegant spaces are ahead of Haussmannian offices (27%), which nevertheless maintain their timeless appeal, and start-up offices (8%), which are often considered too informal.
3 ️ ※ Adapted and cared for spaces
For employees, some spaces are of particular importance:
- The reception hall (44%): a crucial first impression.
- Service areas (41%): cafeterias, relaxation areas.
- Common areas (39%): corridors, stairs, sanitary facilities.
- The meeting rooms (37%): essential for collaboration.
- The individual workspace : with optimal natural light, ergonomic furniture and efficient equipment.
4 ️ A strategic location
The neighborhood where the office is located also plays a key role. Paris Central West is at the top of employees' favorite places to work, far ahead of Paris Rive Gauche or La Défense. A prestigious or inspiring location not only boosts the attractiveness of offices, but also the pride of working there.
✨ Why does that change everything?
These results illustrate a major transformation in the way workspaces are designed:
- The well-being at work becomes a priority.
- The physical office is a lever for strengthening employee engagement and loyalty.
- Aesthetics is no longer a simple “bonus”, but a decisive criterion for attracting and retaining talent.
